Caio Sousa was born in São Paulo, Brazil. He started learning the cello at the age of 12 in a public school of music located in Mogi das Cruzes, his hometown.
At the age of 15, he entered the São Paulo State School of Music Tom Jobim, under the guidance of Dr. Meryvelle Maciente, and joined the Tom Jobim Youth Orchestra (jazz music) and St. Peter’s Theater Youth Orchestra (opera).
At the age of 18, he moved to Natal, to pursue his bachelor’s degree in Music at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, where he was oriented by Dr. Fabio Presgrave, and joined the UFRN Cello Ensemble at the university’s orchestra, as the principal cello.
Mr. Caio has worked as a cello teacher for many years, one of his first professional experiences was at a non-profit organization called “Cooperation and Attitude”, where he received a scholarship to join the academic Symphony Orchestra of Curitiba’s Music Festival.
The following year, he was awarded a scholarship to join Pelotas Music Festival’s symphony orchestra. He’s currently pursuing a master’s degree in Music Performance at TCU under the guidance of Dr. Herlin, and working as a Graduate Assistant and cello teacher.
